〜イタリアでの暮らしのスケッチ〜 3. 赤い朝 morning in Red light

にぎやかな鳥の声に目覚めるとあたりは真っ赤な光に包まれたリビングだった。

「ここはどこ？。。。イタリアかあ。」

赤いカーテンを開けて始まった初日。

今日からこれが３人の住所。

備え付けのソファ、机、ベッド、食器のおかげですぐに生活は始まった。隣の部屋は病院。中庭にはたくさんのガレージ。正門はリモコンで開閉。全てが新しい。窓にはシャッター。柔道の帯のようなベルトをたくって開け閉めする手動式。ところどころの穴から空気や光も入る。

さて、初日から何はさておき車が絶対必要だとわかる。サッカーグランドへの送迎やスーパーへの買い出しになくてはならない。とはいえ貧乏留学ゆえピカピカの車は望めない。しかし、神はいらっしゃった。噂を聞きつけた親戚の女性教師から売買の申し出が。助けに船と思いきや。。。クラッチが硬いのですぐエンストしやすいというシロモノらしい。もちろんマニュアル。が、プジョー。ホリデイの前に処分したいからすぐにでも売りたいという。まずは試し乗りしてみて私が運転できるかどうか。子供達が慣れるまでは私が特攻隊長として乗りきらねばと気が入る。当たり前ながら左ハンドル。ドキドキしながら左足で探る。ほんとだ、すぐエンスト。。。でもそんなことは言ってられない。

なんてったって７万円だから！

エアコンがついてなくても、ラジオしか聞けなくても、窓をくるくる開けなくてはならなくても、私たちはこのプジョーを有り難くいただきチキチキマシン猛レースのような日々が始まった。。。

The light was red when I woke up. Where am I? Oh,it's Italia from today...

Everything’s ready,sofa,table,bed,dishes,(rental apartment)so easy to start to live.Next door is a hospital, lots of garages in the yard, the security gate, all is new to us. Especially the window's shutter is exciting for us. When we pull the belt(like JUDO-belt) the shutter rolls down and  the many little holes that let the light and air in, just shut.The night is out.

Most of all,we needed a car to take the children to the soccer ground and for shopping .Not much budget for BMW...However God had mercy on us. An uncle's friend suggested to sell her old car to us. She wanted to stop driving the car anyway. Yes,yes,yes.! There is a big problem: is too hard to change the gear smoothly,  the clutch pedal is way too hard. I tried it and understood right away what it meant, but  we bought the car anyway of course. You know why: The price was ¥70,000 !!!!!  for a PEUGEOT 208.

Everything excluded: no air-condishioner, no CDplayer, no electric windows no nothing,,, and so our Italian Life began.....like a cartoon!!!
